MY WELLNESS TRUTH “I AM A SURVIVOR”!
Honesty Reality Sincerity

June 2021 was the first full month since the Stay-at-Home was lifted from February 2020. It was a great start to celebrate our Freedom without limitations. Unfortunately, there is a new COVID variant strain “Delta” and a large population of unvaccinated individuals that push COVID cases numbers back up. The COVID mandated restriction now vary from state to state.

Honesty - While most of you have not experienced a pandemic ever before, “You’ll “Never Be the Same.”

Reality -Well, some of us have been here before. This past year and a half has been a “Déjà vu” moment for me. I’ll “Never Be the Same” after going through a major health trauma in August 2016 (Brain Tumor Surgery).

You can now boldly say:  MY WELLNESS TRUTH – “I AM A SURVIVOR”. The pandemic healing journey has been progressive; however, we are still in the midst of the storm. Yes, some of us feel FREE being vaccinated with a cautious mindset. Our time during this pandemic has forced us to be on a unique holistic path to restoration, realignment, re-imagination, and reunification.

Sincerity - The NEW YOU with a new beginning has become more resilient by concentrating on these five pillar areas - self-awareness, mindfulness, self-care, positive relationships and purpose. Finally, letting go of the things that are not important and recognizing and having a grateful heart for the small things.

RESTORATION - As many of us have lost parts of ourselves during this pandemic crisis, with faith and hope, we continue to move forward towards the restoration process of building a better us. Knowing one of the descriptions of the restorative process is to receive back more than has been lost to the point where the better you have been improved beyond measure. As I reflect on my restoration efforts - My Wellness Truth, “I AM A SURVIVOR” playlist one of my motivational song’s “Joy” – There’s BEAUTY in your BROKENNESS sung by VaShawn Mitchell (https://youtu.be/86_MXU76e0c)

REALIGNMENT – during this time of rapid change with no time to prepare was an opportunity for us to position ourselves in a purpose-driven life environment. However, alignment is about clarifying who you are, your values and priorities, and removing the noise and distraction of other's expectations, rather than trying to achieve some unattainable “balance” based on society's norms and values. It's finding the flow and letting the things that cause friction go. As I reflect on my realignment efforts, My Wellness Truth, “I AM A SURVIVOR” playlist motivational song “Rise Up,” sung by Andrea Day (https://youtu.be/FBuIBaDSOa4).

RE-IMAGINATION - The pandemic made us vulnerable and aware of our strengths and highlighted our weaknesses. This time of self-discovery and finding our God-given purpose allowed us to embrace our authentic best self. With the focal point on the ability of our minds to be creative or resourceful on how we could make a difference and impact with our families and in the world while living a meaningful life. As I reflect on my re-imagination efforts, My Wellness Truth, “I AM A SURVIVOR” playlist motivational song “He Knows My Name,” sung by Tasha Cobbs Leonard (https://youtu.be/z-7iR5CBLF8).

REUNIFICATION - We come together again after this long period of separation in unity. Free to enjoy life inside or outside with our families, friends, co-worker, and community neighbors. As I started to think about this exciting time, I begin humming this old-school song from the ’70s titled “Reunited & Feels So Good,” originally sung by Peaches & Herb (https://youtu.be/0nUMWzENC-4)- instrumental version. Once again, back to an environment with hesitation in my mind and heart.

RESILIENT – We are stronger than ever. We had to adapt to many different circumstances of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, and source of stress such as family and relationship problems, serious COVID-19/health problems, or workplace and financial stressors. That's the role of resilience. As I reflect on my resilient efforts, My Wellness Truth, “I AM A SURVIVOR” playlist motivational song “Ain’t That Just Like God,” sung by Evvie McKinney (https://youtu.be/wYZOAqJTfAM).

Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me”
