The Everlasting Power of an H. U. G. - “Heartfelt Unconditional Gift”
Honesty – Ok. Y'all, I know you think I am CRAZY talking about the Power of an H.U. G. in the middle of an outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic's second new strain -Omicron. But I do have a solution, "Think COVID -19 Care". Keep reading.
Reality – We are trying to live life amongst the chaos. It's a fact! Even if you are vaccinated and boosted, you still may catch and/or be an A-systematic carrier of this new strain of the virus. Today, we are feeling more fear, anxiety, and loneliness than ever. We have run out of COVID home test kits in most places. My peeps have purchased all the home test kits from their local pharmacies and drugstores. In addition, it's even harder to get an appointment close to home for a test. Oh! Don't forget about the food supply issues and not enough workers to help you at the stores, restaurants, etc. W.O.W.! I thought we were heading to a better place with this pandemic.
Sincerity - February is LOVE month. So, I am taking this opportunity from a healthy place to share the Everlasting Power of an H. U. G with you. - "Heartfelt Unconditional Gift." Guess what. It's FREE to Give.
This past month I was having a conversation with a guy friend who shared a story about a hug he gave to a young lady with her permission after he spoke at an event! That one act changed her mind set and validated his truth and theory; how powerful a hug can be for someone. Based on this conversation and approaching February the LOVE Month, I would like to share my thoughts on the Power of a H.U.G. As I began to reflect on my thoughts, this famous quote came to me.
"I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. Maya Angelou
When I think of a H.U.G., it's just like what Maya said, "People will never forget how you make them feel." This brings me to "Everlasting." It must become embedded in our minds as long-term memory to be everlasting. Ordinarily, people give hugs to greet you when you're happy for someone or when someone is feeling sad. In case you didn't know, a H.U.G. can be given at any time or place. Of course, with permission.
Activate Power - I am excited to tell you if you activate your Power of a H.U.G. – "Heartfelt Unconditional Gift," it will not only change someone's life, but it will also change yours.
Permission to Give – Before you make your move, always ask if it is ok to give that person a H.U.G.
Present to Receive – Once you have made physical contact with that individual, to experience the best outcome is to allow yourself to be in the present moment to feel the Power of the "Heartfelt Unconditional Gift" of that H.U.G.

Steps to give a COVID-19 H.U.G.
- Look the person in the eye. (Social distancing required)
- Place your right hand on your left shoulder and tighten the hand in a hold position
- Place your left hand on your right shoulder and tighten the hand in a hold position (hands are crisscross) 4. Don't forget that you're still starring this person in their eyes.
- Turn slightly to the left and then to the right and shake your upper body. At the same time, you can make a gesture noise or blink your eyes. Whatever is appropriate.
That’s the COVID-19 H.U.G.
